Anyone else love Mailchimp's free tier for small lists?

Honestly, how do I cancel my Mailchimp subscription? Just kidding! I've been with them for a while, mainly using their free tier for my small side hustle. It's fantastic value for what you get, especially if you're not ready to commit to something like Constant Contact or Hubspot yet. I've been dabbling with the RSS to Email feature and it's saved me so much time pushing out blog updates. The fact they offer a permanent 15% discount for verified non-profits is also a huge plus, showing they care about more than just big businesses. For anyone starting out, it's definitely worth checking out before spending money elsewhere.

Consistently reliable service

This is my third year using Mailchimp, and they're still reliable. I started with the free plan, then upgraded to Essentials when my list grew. This recent purchase was just adding more pay-as-you-go credits for transactional emails through Mandrill. The interface hasn't changed much, which is good – no relearning needed. Reports are always accurate, and deliverability is consistently high. It's why I keep coming back; it just works without much fuss. Compared to my initial experience, everything is just as stable and predictable.

Decent value, few small quirks

I moved my newsletter over to Mailchimp last month for their standard plan. The Email Templates are pretty good, and the Customer Journey Builder has some neat features I'm still exploring. Setting up the signup forms was quick, which I appreciated. However, I found the pricing structure a little confusing at first, especially understanding how contacts are counted. Also, while most features are smooth, I had a bit of a hiccup trying to integrate a specific third-party app; it took some troubleshooting. Still, for the features offered, it feels like a good value, especially compared to some competitors I looked at. The overall experience was positive.

Pretty easy to get started

So, I needed to send out some emails for my new side hustle. Heard about Mailchimp, figured I'd try the free plan. It was actually pretty easy to set up my first campaign. I used one of their Email Templates and just filled in my stuff. Took maybe an hour to get the hang of it. The dashboard isn't too scary, which is good. Felt pretty good about sending those first emails out to my list.

Good for our small business needs

We've been using Mailchimp for about six months now, mostly for the Email Marketing Platform and some basic Marketing Automation. The onboarding process was straightforward, and linking our e-commerce store was pretty simple. Delivery of emails seems consistent, and the analytics give us a good overview of how our campaigns are doing. I did contact support once about a minor issue with a custom template, and they responded within a few hours, which was helpful. The mobile app is decent for checking reports on the go. Overall, it's a solid tool for what we need, definitely helping our small business reach customers.

Easy to use builder

Signed up for the free plan to try the email marketing platform. The drag-and-drop builder was super intuitive. Sent my first newsletter in under an hour. Worked well for my small list.

Does Mailchimp have a free option or do you have to pay right away? I just need to send emails to a really small list for now.

T Tom 1 month ago
They have a free plan! It's pretty good for smaller lists, I started with it. Just check the contact limits, I think it's 500.

You can totally start for free. I used it for a year before upgrading when my list grew. It's awesome for getting your feet wet without spending money.

Thinking of signing up for Mailchimp's standard plan. Does anyone know if you get a better deal if you pay yearly instead of monthly?

L Lisa 2 months ago
Yep, they usually give you a discount if you commit to annual billing. I think it's like 10% or something similar.

I pay annually and it definitely saves a bit. Worth it if you know you'll be using it for a while.

Hey guys, thinking about signing up for Mailchimp. Does anyone know if they do any kind of discount for non-profits? My organization is pretty small but every little bit helps.

S Shane 2 months ago
Yeah, they totally do! My friend's charity got a permanent 15% off. You just have to prove you're a legit non-profit.

T Troy 2 months ago
I think it's a pretty standard thing for them. Just check their site for how to apply for the non-profit discount, it's usually in the billing section or something.

I heard Mailchimp doesn't really do promo codes. Is that true or do they have them around Black Friday or something?

J June 2 months ago
Nah, I've almost never seen them do actual promo codes. Their deals are usually for specific plans or things like non-profit discounts.

F Faith 2 months ago
They'll sometimes have Black Friday sales, but it's more like a temporary discount applied to new sign-ups or upgrades, not a code you type in. Afaik.

If I sign up for a paid Mailchimp plan, can I cancel it easily if it doesn't work out? Don't want to get stuck in a long contract.

N Neil Lindqvist 1 month ago
Yeah, you can cancel whenever you want. It's usually monthly so you're not locked in. Super easy to do from your account settings.

I canceled my plan once and it was pretty straightforward, no hassle. They just stop billing you after the current period.
